O Canada!

Friday July 1 was Canada Day and the first day of the Summer break. First thing, Frank, Liam and Phoebe planted some pumpkins (hopefully to be big enough to carve a jack-o-lantern for Halloween!) and some sunflowers Liam germinated at school.

Getting fitted.
We packed ourselves up and drove to Vancouver to meet our Queanbeyan friends Peter, Cheryl and Amelia, via Granville Island to get new shoes for the kids. We arrived in downtown Vancouver late in the afternoon, and on heading out for a walk we ran into our visitors on Granville St! We joined the Canada Day celebrations and wandered down to Canada Place to see what was happening. We had a great supper there which included a Salmon and Bannock (an indigenous fried bread) burger.
Welcome to Vancouver!

The Capilano Suspension Bridge

The following day we went to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. It is a long, narrow bridge about 140 metres in length that is over a deep canyon. Totally NOT my cup of tea, and a place I had already decided we were not going to visit. But visit it we did, and made it across I did. I was scared and almost lost it, but was able to save face! On the other side was a lovely area with a treetop walk. We had to come back across the bridge, but that was better than the first crossing, and I enjoyed the new cliff walk.
Having a great time!

Then we headed to Canada Place to begin our Alaskan cruise adventure!!
