Love, exciting and new.....

The ms. Zuiderdam

Looking toward Lion's Gate Bridge
and North Vancouver
At 5pm the ms Zuiderdam sailed from Canada Place, Vancouver. It was a clear afternoon and it was so exciting to be sailing out under Lion's Gate Bridge and into the sea!

Life on board was quite surreal. The ship itself was very beautiful but like something from another era! I really felt like we were sailing in a luxury hotel from another time.

Our Stateroom
Our room was great. It would have been ideal for two people, but the four of us coped well! Frank and I had the bed, Phoebe was on the fold-out sofa and Liam took pride of place in a bed that lowered from the ceiling above our heads! It appeared during dinner and was gone during breakfast! It was great except for the night I had a strange dream that made me leap out of bed and smack straight into it! We had a large balcony with chairs which was lovely.

Phoebe and Liam 'upstairs'
Food (always an area of interest to us) was great. We ate in various spots and enjoyed a range of excellent food and fantastic service.

Dinner on Day 1
Liam was busy all days on board at Club HAL, a kids' club. He called it his school and couldn't wait to get there each day!

Better than all that, of course, was our company! We really enjoyed relaxing, spending time and sharing experiences with Peter, Cheryl and Amelia.
Getting a feel for shipboard life!

Side view....hold on,
that's OUR lifeboat
that's missing!
