The Calgary Stampede

Getting our hats
At the entrance
The next day we set off for The Calgary Stampede. Calgary is a little over an hour from Banff, and we arrived just as the gates opened. After getting our rodeo tickets and suitable headwear we looked around the Indian Village where there were fantastic teepees, handicrafts and very handsome Indigenous Mounties.

Then we hit the rides, which were in two areas joined by a skychair. Liam was much braver than me!

We saw a guy being shot out of a cannon!

There he goes!

And so to the rodeo. What a fantastic show!! We were in open air seating and it was hot, but with a few drinks we were set and all enjoyed the amazing skills on display. The rodeo took most of the afternoon, and after some fairground games and food, we headed back to Banff.

It was a most memorable day. The Calgary Stampede - the greatest outdoor show on the earth!
