School begins!

Frank hard at work!

We awoke on Saturday morning to discover a good covering of snow - about 6 inches? Frank worked hard to clear the driveway. The temperature had also gone right down, with each day being colder than the preceding! We had a good weekend, doing some shopping and trying to familiarise ourselves with the area and roads. On Saturday night we enjoyed a lovely BBQ at Bruce and Cynthia's place with their family and Tom and Teresa. Bruce and Cynthia's daughter, Kayla, was a big hit with Liam and Phoebe, so we have lined up our babysitter! Bruce and Cynthia were on exchange in Adelaide in 2005. We visited Costco and Walmart, as well as the local shops at Valleyview and had lunch in town at Senor Froggy's.

Today is the first day of school for Liam and Frank. Both were up early and excited to be going to their respective places.  It was -18 when I walked Liam to school this morning. Poor Phoebe did not cope well and protested!!! Liam is in the kindergarten class and was quite at ease when I left. There are 17 others in his class and they have a lovely teacher, Mrs Machuk. Kindergarten is from 8.30 until 11 everyday, and the school, RL Clemitson Elementary (RLC) is about a 10 minute walk from our house. It started snowing on the way home and it is very pretty to watch it through the front window gently drifting to the ground.

We arrive!

Good morning Kamloops!
We arrived yesterday. A beautiful mountainous region. The rivers in town are partially frozen, as is a waterfall we drove by. The temperature is not harsh, but it is unseasonally warm! Daily maximum is around 6 degrees.
We had lovely day with Jennifer and David, exchanging information, visiting Frank's new school, NorKam, and getting the car registered and insured. Liam and David worked hard to build a snowman, complete with carrot nose! In the evening we enjoyed a couple of drinks and met some friends who live nearby, Tom and Teresa.
Today we will venture out on the wrong side of the road and try to organize Liam's school.
Photos to come when we work that bit out!
